Hammocks come in all different shapes, sizes and prices. As we are trying to live a more relaxed lifestyle, to get away from a fast paced world, Hammocks and Swings, although being around in some form for well over a 1000 years, are coming back and being more popular than ever. Some people even consider their hammock, maybe on the front porch or on the patio, as a piece of furniture.
History tells us that the Tapeda Indians in Brazil, who very rarely used beds, made hammocks with a very tight weave like light canvas, and very comfortable in colder climates. The other extreme is the Rope Hammock, with a very open weave, that you can see through. These is usually the type you might see hanging on a porch in a frame with bars each end to keep the Hammock stretched.
The main thing to remember, whether you purchase a Rope Hammock, Quilted Hammock, or any of the variety of Hand Woven Hammocks, they will fit anywhere in your home. Whether it be inside, or just lazing around in the garden, Hammocks And Swings are so relaxing to lay sleep in.

These people are also credited with the design of the web like hammock, this is about 800 years before North American settlement.
Early hammocks were made from bark of the Hamak tree, but later replaced by the Sisal plant. With all the abundant trade that was going on in the area at the time, everyone was using hammocks in some form.
